CAMERA BAG:

WANDRD PRVKE 21L

I use the WANDRD PRVKE 21L camera bag with the photography bundle. I love this bag as it is is a camera backpack designed for photographers and travellers.

Some features include:

  • Padded Interior: The PRVKE 21L Photography Bundle comes with customisable padded dividers to create a modular interior, allowing me to organise my camera gear according to my preferences.

  • Laptop Compartment: The bag includes a dedicated laptop compartment to accommodate a laptop or tablet.

  • Weather Resistance: The backpack is designed to be weather-resistant, helping protect your gear from the elements. I have an additional rainfly for extra protection in bad weather.

  • Expandable Roll Top: The PRVKE 21L comes with an expandable roll-top design, providing extra storage space when needed.

  • Tripod/Pocket Carry: The backpack includes exterior straps and a water bottle pocket that can be used to carry a tripod or other accessories.

CAMERA BODY:

SONY A7IV

I got the Sony A7IV Mirrorless Camera and it’s incredible! I previously had a Canon DSLR, but felt like I wanted to upgrade to a mirrorless camera, which are much lighter.

I couldn’t be happier with this camera. It shoots amazing photos at 33 megapixels, and also has great video capabilities. One of my favourite features is how lightning fast the autofocus is. The A7IV is weather sealed for protection against dust and water, the battery life lasts all day of intensive shooting, and the photos always turn out incredible!

LENSES:

SONY 24-105 mm f/4

For any travel photographers wanting a go-to lens that covers a big range of focal lengths, the Sony 24-105mm f/4 G lens is perfect. This is the first lens I bought, and it’s on my camera about 90% of the time!

Some key features of the 24-105 f/4 lens include:

  1. Zoom Range:

    • The 24-105mm focal length range provides massive flexibility for capturing a wide array of subjects. You can zoom out and snap a wide landscapes at 24mm or zoom in to compress those backgrounds at 105mm. This versatility makes it the perfect choice for travel, events, and everyday photography.
  2. Constant f/4 Aperture:

    • The constant f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range ensures consistent exposure and depth of field, allowing photographers to maintain creative control in various lighting conditions. This feature is particularly advantageous for video work where aperture changes can impact the overall look of a scene.
  3. Optical SteadyShot (OSS):

    • Sony’s Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation technology minimises the impact of camera shake, which helps with capturing sharper images and smoother video footage, especially in low-light situations or when using slower shutter speeds.
  4. Fast Autofocus:

    • The lens features an amazingly fast and quiet autofocus system, making it perfect for a “run and gun” style of shooting!
  5. Great Build Quality and Weather Sealing:

    • These cameras are workhorses, and can withstand rain, wind, cold, hot, and everything in between! The body is weather sealed so I never have to worry when it starts to rain!

Sony actually also has a 24-105 lens that goes down to f/2.8, so if you’re looking at shooting more in lowlight this is a good option to consider. However, it’s almost twice the price and the weight of the f/4 lens.

SONY 50 mm f/1.8

The 2nd lens I picked up was a prime lens: the Sony 50 mm f/1.8. This is considered a “cheap” lens at less than $200 USD, but it packs quite a punch in a tiny little body!

Some key features of the 50 mm f/1.8 lens include:

  1. Fixed Focal Length: 50mm is a classic focal length for portrait photography
  2. Large Aperture:  The wide aperture of f/1.8 creates beautiful shots even in very low-light areas.  The wide aperture also allows for a beautiful blurry background look, with the subject in focus.

  3. Compact and Lightweight: The lens is typically designed to be compact and lightweight, making it a portable option for various shooting situations.

  4. Affordability: The 50mm f/1.8 lens is often considered a budget-friendly option, providing good optical performance at a relatively affordable price point.

SONY 16-35 mm f/2.8

The 3rd and final lens I’ve added to my camera bag is the Sony 16-35 mm f2.8 Grand Master

This is a wide angle lens that is perfect for capturing massive landscapes!

Some features of the Sony 16-35 mm f2.8 Grand Master include:

  1. Focal Length Range: 16-35mm  is a very versatile focal length range. It’s perfect for landscape photography, architecture, and other wide-angle shots.

  2. Large Aperture: The constant f/2.8 aperture is perfect in lowlight situations such as being in a cave or indoors.

  3. Weather-Sealed Construction: The lens has great build quality and is weather-sealed to protect against dust and moisture.

DRONE:

DJI MINI 3 PRO

I upgraded my drone from the original DJI Mavic Air to the DJI Mini 3 Pro this year and I couldn’t be happier! It’s so compact, light, and has an insane flight time of over 37 minutes!

I love flying the drone as it provides such a unique perspective at so many sites!

UNDERWATER CAMERA:

GOPRO HERO 7 BLACK

The GoPro Hero 8 Black is a super compact and light waterproof camera that’s perfect for any underwater adventures. We took it snorkelling all over the Philippines, scuba diving, and swimming with whale sharks in Indonesia, and it’s so easy and compact to bring along in my camera bag!

The Peak Design Travel Tripod is a very sturdy and thoughtfully designed tripod. The build quality is amazing, it’s easy and quick to get set up, and it’s perfect for capturing shots in low-light or photos with both of us in them!

CAPTURE CAMERA CLIP BY PEAK DESIGN

The Capture Camera Clip by Peak Design is one of my favourite camera accessories. It allows me to strap my camera onto my backpack strap whenever I need to be handsfree, which is perfect for any hiking or city walking adventures.

You can clip the Capture to your belt or backpack strap for quick and easy handsfree storage while not using your camera!

SLIDE LITE CAMERA STRAP BY PEAK DESIGN

I love the Slide Lite Camera Strap by Peak Design way more than any other I’ve ever used, because it clips on and off super quickly and easily. Instead of having to waste time threading and unthreading the camera strap every time you use it, you can easily click it into and out of place.

POWER BANK:

ANKER A1291 POWERCORE III ELITE

This Anker A1291 Powercore III Elite Powerbank can charge my phone 10+ times with just one charge cycle! It has both USB A and USB C ports, and can also charge my drone, MacBook, and Sony A7IV! We’ve spent plenty of nights on the road or in a remote area with no power, so a good powerbank is a must have to keep all our electronics charged!
