BEAUTIFUL BA HO WATERFALLS, NHA TRANG

Ba Ho Waterfalls is a beautiful and popular destination located just outside of Nha Trang, Vietnam. The name Ba Ho means “three pools” in Vietnamese, which refers to the three natural pools that form as the water cascades down the three tiers of the waterfall.

The drive takes about 45 minutes from Nha Trang (or 40 minutes from the Núi Cô Tiên hike, which is where we drove from). We rented a scooter for the day, which was the most economical way to get there. We paid 120,000 VND (5.10 USD). You could also take a taxi to Ba Ho Village, however, it might be harder to find a taxi on the way back.

From the Ba Ho Village, you buy your entry ticket for 100,000 VND (4.25 USD), and it’s a short 1.5 km hike through the forest to reach the waterfalls.

The walk to the beginning of the waterfalls is very easy and paved. The walkway is populated with cute gardens, swings, and seating areas. We took our time, enjoying the beautiful and serene area and taking lots of pictures. There are also a few little cafes along the way where you can get food, drinks, and snacks.

Once you reach the beginning of the waterfalls, the paved road ends and the rest of it requires walking/climbing over big rocks. Proper shoes are recommended, as wearing flip flops/sandals could result in twisting an ankle.

The first waterfall is definitely the easiest to get to physically. It’s about 15 minutes of scrambling over rocks and following the painted signs until you reach it. The first waterfall is also the smallest of the three. The pool at the base of the waterfall is relatively shallow and is a great spot for swimming.

The second and third waterfalls require more physical skill to get to, hoisting yourself up over big rocks and through narrow paths.

From the first waterfall, it’s about a 5-7 minute walk to the second. The second waterfall has a tire swing, rope swing, and the water deeper than the first, making it a great spot for swinging into the water and enjoying a swim.

For those who are feeling adventurous, the third waterfall is another 10-minute scramble through the rocks. It requires climbing up rebar that has been mounted into the rocks, so it definitely requires extra balance and physical exertion. This trail also involves some steep and slippery sections, but the view from the top is well worth the effort.

The third and largest waterfall is the most impressive of the three. It’s about 20 meters high and features a large, deep pool at the base. There are several places to jump from, including a high platform, and the water is clear and refreshing. We met some fellow travellers that were cliff jumping, and spent most of our afternoon at swimming and sunbathing at the third waterfall.

All three waterfalls are surrounded by lush greenery and rocky cliffs, making for a beautiful and serene natural setting. It’s definitely worth visiting all three waterfalls if you have the time to do so.

The way back follows the exact same trail, so be prepared to re-scramble through all those rocks to get to the bottom. We were so impressed by how well everything was marked and maintained. It was very serene & peaceful, with plenty of shade and the nice sound of the water rushing in the background.

Overall, Ba Ho Waterfalls is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers visiting Nha Trang. The stunning natural beauty and refreshing water make it the perfect escape from the city heat and a great way to experience the beauty of Vietnam’s countryside.
